Despite the media storm that is coming, LeBron James no longer wants to say anything related to the issue between Hong Kong, China and the NBA. Instead, he will focus on the new season with the LA Lakers.

This morning, LeBron James was immediately asked how he would react when he saw protesters in Hong Kong trample or even burn his shirt on the street. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar’s answer was quite simple: “I didn’t see them, so I didn’t react at all.”

After there were statements that president Daryl Morey did not or did not understand the issue clearly before making a controversial tweet, bringing the NBA and China into 10 tense days, LeBron James attracted anger from Hong Kong people.

However, James himself didn’t care much about how his comments were received among protesters.

“No, I’m more concerned about when I say something, how it affects me. I told everyone yesterday that when I speak on something, I say in the sense that I feel like I understand things, they feel logical to me.

Yesterday, I expressed how I felt and had a perspective on the events that happened when we were in China last week,” LeBron James answered reporters after practice this morning.

Stating that this may be the last time he speaks about the strained relationship between the NBA and China, LeBron hopes things will gradually calm down so fans can focus entirely on basketball.

“My plan here is to become the captain of this team and find a way for us to win the championship. That is also my main goal. As for the issue that everyone is concerned about (Central National and NBA), I said it yesterday, I’m talking about it now and I won’t talk about it again in the future.

It would be disrespectful to my teammates if I continued to focus on this, things that do not benefit the team. We are trying to win the championship and that is the only goal. We are not politicians and this is an extremely complicated political issue.

We are leaders and sometimes we will stand up. I’m not talking about it right now, but if you feel like you shouldn’t talk about something then you don’t have to say anything,” LeBron shared.

The media storm following Houston Rockets president Daryl Morey’s tweet, which had temporarily subsided, has now emerged extremely strongly. Questions directly related to the issues of Hong Kong, China and the NBA are constantly asked to players or members of the coaching staff of the teams.

As someone who directly receives a lot of questions, LeBron James wants things to slow down a bit: “The best thing we can all do at the moment is play basketball. This is clearly a challenge isn’t it?” It’s a small thing, but I think and hope that time will ease everything.

I also believe that basketball and sports in general always bring people closer together. Basketball will help share more love and sympathy than hatred in this world.”

LeBron James and his teammates will take the field in the next preseason match tomorrow morning when the Los Angeles Lakers welcome the Golden State Warriors. The match will take place at 9:30 am on Thursday (October 17) at Staples Center.
